Premier League rising star Alejandro Garnacho has been given the Carlos Tevez seal of approval with a Manchester United hero of the past praising a Manchester United hero of the future.
With the possible exception of Adnan Januzaj and Mason Greenwood, it’s hard to think of a teenager who has made such an immediate impact at Old Trafford in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Alejandro Garnacho is still only 18, but already has a catalogue of iconic Man United moments under his belt.
That last-gasp winner against Fulham. That Manchester Derby assist for Marcus Rashford. The late decider at Elland Road. The gorgeous FA Cup stunner against West Ham.
Garnacho’s speed and supreme self-confidence has been badly missed during his recent injury-enforced absence, and the relief that greeted the signing of his new long-term contract is testament to how highly he is regarded already by the Red Devils supporters.

Ajelandro Garnacho could make Manchester United return
Tevez, a Premier League and Champions League winner under Ferguson, knows a thing or two about succeeding in that famous red shirt. And he is backing a fellow Argentine to follow in his footsteps.
“To play there (at Manchester United) you have to be craque,” Tevez tells TYC Sport.
If you were wondering, ‘craque’ usually refers to highly-skilled, technically-gifted footballers. A fitting description indeed, then, for Alejandro Garnacho.
“Garnacho is good. To play for Manchester United you have to be good,” Tevez adds. “He is playing for one of the top three clubs in the world, which are Real Madrid, Manchester City and United.
“It is not easy for Argentines to insert yourself into that culture.”
Madrid-born Garnacho joined United from Atletico back in 2020. In 10 starts under Erik ten Hag, he has seven goal contributions already. Four goals and three assists. Most of them coming in ‘clutch’ moments from a teenager who already has a reputation for stepping up when he is needed the most.
Garnacho was back on the bench against West Ham United last time out. Should he feature against Wolves on Saturday, that will be his first Premier League outing since March.
“He was on the bench. Then, of course, he is capable of playing,” Ten Hag explained after that West Ham loss. “But we also had other options with (Anthony) Martial, with Jadon Sancho, with (Marcel) Sabitzer. Offensive and fit – very fit – players are there and present, then you have to play them.
“But in one week, you have to see, it’s one week extra and he (Garnacho) is brave. He can make a difference.”
