Caleb Yirenkyi has won rave reviews in Denmark
Caleb Yirenkyi has made 40 appearances for Danish side Nordsjaelland, and he has been tipped to secure a big move in the future.
Speaking after his first start for the club, manager Jens Olsen praised his contribution to the team, commenting: “Caleb in the middle contributes with a huge amount of work. He wins a lot of balls and gets around a lot.”
Subsequently speaking to club media later in the season, Olsen highlighted Yirenkyi’s attitude and determination to succeed.
“He doesn’t waste a single second when he’s here. He has a purpose, he’s here on a mission, and that’s to become a better footballer and to fulfill his dreams with football and life as best as possible.
“It’s very impressive how meticulous he is. I sometimes talk to the young players about making an effort, and he really makes an effort every single day.”
In an interview with Bold, Yirenkyi explained how he was enjoying life in Denmark: “Over the past year, I have learned an incredible amount, and the coaches and my teammates always make sure that I am still learning something new every single day.”
Yirenkyi’s teammates have voiced their appreciation and support, keen to enjoy him while they can.
Prince Junior is a colleague and club and international level, and reacted to recent transfer interest in the young midfielder: “I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes the step to a bigger club and comes with Ghana to the World Cup this summer. He deserves all the good things that come to him.”
Peter Ankersen told Tipsbladet: “He has impressed everyone. I had heard beforehand that he was a great talent, and I could also see it at the beginning of training, but now that he has gained senior experience, it has pretty much only gone one way for him, and that is forward.
“He is a player we should enjoy while he is in the Superliga, because I think he is a sought-after commodity this summer.”
Benjamin Nygren echoed these sentiments: “I think he is really, really good. He has a really high international level.
“He wins a lot of duels, he is really strong and he is also good with the ball, so he is someone who I think will go really far.”

Caleb Yirenkyi’s rapid rise
Caleb Yirenkyi signed for Nordsjaelland in 2024. He signed a contract extension in 2025, and was then rewarded with a second extension in the same year, tying up his contract to 2030.
Prior to his 20th birthday in January, BBC Sport rated Yirenkyi as one of the top three players under 20 outside of Europe’s top five leagues.
Their report cited his eight caps for Ghana, adding: “He is known for his versatility, having played at right-back for his national team.”
Viaplay reported that Yirenkyi rejected an unnamed Premier League club at the recent deadline, who had made a £15 million bid.
He did not want to move mid-season amid a push for his World Cup place, Tipsbladet reported. Yirenkyi could even feature against England at the tournament, drawn in the same group as Ghana.
Brighton are also keen on Yirenkyi as a replacement for Carlos Baleba, who has been a target for Manchester United.
Baleba’s form this season has been concerning, and United could simply choose to skip a step and beat the Seagulls to the less-experienced but far cheaper Yirenkyi.
