Bryan Mbeumo and Cristiano Ronaldo have both done something at Old Trafford that no other Manchester United player has pulled off since the Portugal icon’s second spell.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently at Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, returned to Old Trafford in 2021 after the Red Devils signed him from Serie A side Juventus.

The 40-year-old Portuguese forward had a stunning impact in the first season of his second spell at the Premier League club, with Ronaldo making 38 appearances.

Ronaldo netted 18 times in 30 Premier League matches for United in the 2021-22 campaign, as well as scoring six times in seven Champions League fixtures.

The United legend’s spell came to an end for the second time in 2022 after he fell down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag in the following league campaign.

Bryan Mbeumo and Cristiano Ronaldo share something in common in the Premier League with Man Utd

Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2021-22 season at Manchester United saw the former Juventus superstar scoop the Premier League Player of the Month award in September 2021.

No ‘new’ United star has won the award in the same year that they signed for the Premier League club, which Bryan Mbeumo has now done in his first season.

Bryan Mbeumo arrived at Old Trafford in the summer after the Red Devils landed the 26-year-old winger in a big-money transfer from Premier League side Brentford.

The former Brentford ace has been a standout performer for United in his opening 10 Premier League matches, with Mbeumo scoring four times for the Red Devils.

The Premier League’s official social media channels on Friday confirmed that the French-born Mbeumo had been named the Player of the Month for October.

Rasmus Hojlund won the Premier League Player of the Month at Man Utd, but not in the same way as Bryan Mbeumo

Rasmus Hojlund, who is currently on loan at Serie A side Napoli, also scooped the Premier League Player of the Month award while he was at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old on-loan United striker had arrived at Old Trafford from Atalanta in 2023 and struggled in the opening months of his debut Premier League season.

However, a rich vein of goalscoring form in the second half of the 2023-24 campaign saw Rasmus Hojlund scoop the Player of the Month prize in March 2024.

Hojlund’s Player of the Month win came the following year after his £72m move from Atalanta, which is different to how Mbeumo and Ronaldo won their awards.

The Denmark international’s feat happened after the 2024 January window had shut, which meant the 2023 summer window was not the most recent at that time.
