Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes received a red card against Tottenham at Old Trafford.
A poor performance for Manchester United against Tottenham got worse when Bruno Fernandes was shown a straight red card.
Bruno Fernandes was sent off after 40 minutes against Spurs with Erik ten Hag’s side trailing 1-0.
Fernandes was sent off for a late and high challenge on James Maddison, the first red card of his Red Devils career.
VAR reviewed the incident and agreed with the referee, deeming it to be ‘serious foul play’.

Bruno Fernandes suspension
Bruno Fernandes received a straight red card which will lead to a three-game Premier League suspension.
With the international break in a fortnight’s time, it means Bruno Fernandes will not play another Premier League game until November.
The matches Fernandes will miss are as follows…
- Aston Villa vs Man Utd (October 6)
- Man Utd vs Brentford (October 19)
- West Ham vs Man Utd (October 27)
Fernandes will be able to play Europa League matches during this time, which will see him play games away at Porto, and away at Fenerbahce.
He will also be eligible to play in the Carabao Cup at home to Leicester at the end of October.
The next Premier League game Fernandes will be available to play will be at home to Chelsea on November 3.
New captain to step up
Bruno Fernandes is the Manchester United captain and a new leader will need to step up during the period the midfielder is suspended for.
As he left the pitch against Tottenham, Fernandes handed the armband to new signing Noussair Mazraoui, before Lisandro Martinez took it in the second half.
Former captain Harry Maguire missed the match with Spurs due to an injury sustained in training.
