Newport County striker Will Evans has candidly opened up on the classy message he received from Bruno Fernandes after he scored against Manchester United in the FA Cup.
Manchester United travelled away to the Rodney Parade for their fourth-round FA Cup tie after they beat Wigan 2-0 at the DW Stadium in the third round.
Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for United in the seventh minute against Newport County before Kobbie Mainoo doubled his side’s lead six minutes later.
However, Newport County caused United quite the scare after Bryn Morris pulled one back for the League Two side before half-time.
Will Evans stunned United only two minutes into the second half after he turned the ball past Altay Bayindir, who was making his club debut, from close range.
United avoided a potentially embarrassing FA Cup upset after Antony restored the Red Devils’ lead, with Rasmus Hojlund finding the back of the net in injury time.

Evans talks Man Utd star Fernandes
Manchester United punched their ticket to the fifth round of the FA Cup after their 4-2 victory over Newport County.
Erik ten Hag’s men are keen to challenge for major silverware this season, with the FA Cup being the Premier League club’s only realistic opportunity to lift a trophy.
United are currently sixth in the Premier League table and face an uphill battle to finish in the top four, with a league title challenge effectively out of the question.
Speaking to Goalposts TV, Newport County forward Will Evans has now opened up about the experience of playing against United in the FA Cup.
The 26-year-old player, who raved about one United star, shared the wholesome reaction he received from Bruno Fernandes after he scored for Newport County.
“Obviously, we’ve got a few Liverpool fans in our team as well,” Evans said.
“We’re saying we can’t wait to get into Antony or Bruno, and everyone came off the pitch saying the exact same about all of them.
“Saying they’re actually the most genuine… well, they’re just normal blokes. Bruno, after I scored my goal, I was running back, and he tapped me on the back and said, ‘Good finish, mate.’
“In his post-match interview about Bryn Morris’ strike, he said: ‘The lad scored a brilliant strike [unbelievable shot] just before half-time.’ And you think he didn’t have to say that.”
Ten Hag wants FA Cup challenge
United will resume their FA Cup campaign later this month when they travel away to face Nottingham Forest in the fifth round of the competition.
Ten Hag fell short of the FA Cup trophy last season and the United boss has admitted that he ‘admires’ the opportunity to compete in cup football a lot.
Speaking to Manchester United’s official website in January, he said: “I admire cup football because it’s do or die in one game.
“So therefore, [as] I said before, in my approach to your questions you have to be ready.
“So, then I repeat myself but get ready for the game. It’s a great game. There will be full attention on that game.
“There will be a crowd that will be probably hostile. So, enjoy that position [and be] fully motivated. So, yeah, be ready and go and play.”
