Bruno Fernandes has thanked Manchester United supporters for the backing after the Red Devils’ 2-1 win over Chelsea.
It said everything about Manchester United’s relative dominance over Chelsea at Old Trafford that even after Bruno Fernandes’ early penalty miss, you always felt this match was heading towards a Red Devils win.
Manchester United were awarded a spot-kick in the seventh minute after a late challenge on Antony.
Bruno Fernandes confidently stepped up following the VAR review, and then wasted one of the pieces of good fortune United have had this season, with his low penalty saved by Robert Sanchez.
It wasn’t a bad penalty, but when you miss, it’s not exactly good either. Thankfully United went on to win the game anyway.

Manchester United win 2-1
Scott McTominay scored a brace to secure a 2-1 victory for Manchester United, with a goal in each half. It meant Bruno Fernandes’ missed penalty can be forgotten.
Fernandes began the night on five goals for the season and McTominay four. Now the Scotland international has moved to six, with Fernandes rooted on five despite the penalty chance.
Manchester United just needed the win, however it came, and Bruno Fernandes has put it down to supporters.
Bruno Fernandes responds
Bruno Fernandes wrote on Instagram he was glad to hear the roar of the crowd through the game, and that he felt their support.
He says that this gave him the lift he needed after the penalty miss, writing: “Great performance today 💪🏼
Thanks for all the support during the game and even more after the penalty. I felt that ❤️”
This was a much-needed with for Manchester United after the over the top criticism which came from the defeat to Newcastle.
But it’s not easy to win at St James’ Park, with Chelsea losing 4-1. Really that should have been the score at Old Trafford last night, Manchester United had enough chances.
