Manchester United fans will have been watching with envy on Thursday night as the Champions League concluded its first week.
It was a night in which Manchester United fans had plenty of options for viewing, with loanees in action across two games.
Rasmus Hojlund played in Napoli’s defeat to Manchester City, a game that was written off early with the Italians down to 10 men.
Elsewhere, up in Newcastle, Marcus Rashford made his return to England with Barcelona. This clash came immediately after Rashford got his first Barcelona assist, and things got even better on Thursday night.
After Hansi Flick raved about Rashford, the United loanee had to back it up with a stellar display against the Magpies in the absence of Lamine Yamal, and he did just that.

Bruno Fernandes reacts immediately to Marcus Rashford’s goal for Barcelona
All eyes were on Rashford this week, his return to face Premier League opposition, and also in the starting line-up for Barcelona.
Well, after the 90 minutes have passed, we can safely say that he sent a message to the whole country that he is well on his way to reaching his best level once more.
Rashford scored both goals as Barcelona beat Newcastle 2-1, and the second was an absolute peach of a goal.
The goal was a ‘golazo’, as Spanish commentators would have surely been shouting, and it was a strike good enough to prompt a Bruno Fernandes Instagram story post.

Fernandes commented two mind-blown emojis and also one shocked emoji, clearly thrilled for his now former teammate, but also incredibly impressed.
Marcus Rashford performance only adding fuel to the fire for Ruben Amorim
Rashford is really beginning to find his feet in Spain, with three goal contributions in his last two games, as he fast becomes a star for Flick.
Most of the Manchester United fanbase and squad will be delighted for him, but Ruben Amorim won’t be watching with joy.
Rashford’s performance will inevitably lead fans to begin wishing he was still at the club, something that would mean choosing the academy graduate over Amorim.
It will look frustrating that the club sacrificed a player of such tremendous quality for a head coach who can’t win two games on the bounce.
Bad timing for Amorim, and it will surely add fuel to the growing fire.
