Bruno Fernandes has admitted that he lost a friendly wager with one Manchester United player after what happened in the Nottingham Forest match at Old Trafford.
The 31-year-old Manchester United captain etched his name in the history books by tying the Premier League assist record in a single season after Sunday’s match.
Bruno Fernandes took his Premier League assist tally to 20 after the Portugal international set up Bryan Mbeumo in the second half of United’s 3-2 win.
United’s victory over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford ensured that Michael Carrick’s men will finish third in the Premier League table in the 2025-26 campaign.

Luke Shaw opened the scoring for Manchester United against Nottingham Forest at the weekend before Morato pulled the away side level early in the second half.
However, Matheus Cunha restored the Red Devils’ lead only minutes later before Bryan Mbeumo extended Man Utd’s advantage at Old Trafford in the Premier League tie.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Bruno Fernandes has admitted that he now owes Mbeumo a new washbag after losing a friendly pre-match bet with his United teammate.
“Even before the game, we were joking about the washbag that he had because he took it from the aeroplane when we went on tour and I said to him, ‘Come on, you need to stop using this one,’” he said.
“And he said if he scores a goal in the game, [that] I would have to get him one. So, he got the goal. I owe him a washbag.
“He needs now to choose which one he wants and then I will be giving it to him.”

Fernandes could have arguably broken the Premier League assist record at the weekend had it not been for the missed chances of his Red Devils teammates.
Mbeumo stunned United fans over his failure to convert clear chances against Forest, but Fernandes pointed to the highs and lows of his teammate this season.
“He doesn’t need to be forgiven,” Fernandes explained.
“He scored a lot of goals at the beginning of the season, also. So, he was going through a spell that he couldn’t score much, but we always had big faith in him.”
Mbeumo went 11 Premier League matches without scoring in recent months before finding the back of the net against Forest at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
