Bruno Fernandes has sent the perfect message to Raphael Varane after his former Manchester United teammate signed for a new club this summer.
Raphael Varane made his exit from Old Trafford at the end of the 2023-24 Premier League season after his contract with Manchester United expired.
The 31-year-old French defender arrived at United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2021 after he left Real Madrid for an initial transfer fee of £34m.
Despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking as United manager in 2021, Varane retained an important role under Erik ten Hag after the Dutchman’s arrival in 2022.
Varane struck up a formidable partnership with Lisandro Martinez in Erik ten Hag’s debut season at Old Trafford and the pair impressed in the 2022-23 campaign.
However, the 2018 World Cup winner saw his influence wane last season and Varane’s campaign with United was disrupted due to injuries.
Varane managed 32 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, with the former United defender making 16 Premier League starts in 22 matches.

Man Utd star Fernandes’ message to Varane
Raphael Varane signed off his spell at Old Trafford on a high note after lifting the FA Cup trophy with Manchester United at Wembley in May.
The former Real Madrid star reunited with Lisandro Martinez in defence for the FA Cup final and the pair impressed in the 2-1 win over Manchester City.
Varane on Sunday completed a free transfer move to Italian side Como, who secured promotion to the Serie A for the 2024-25 season.
Bruno Fernandes has been close pals with the former United centre-back and the pair were even snapped together on holiday this summer.
The 29-year-old United captain took to Instagram Stories and sent out a message after Varane completed his move to Como.
Sharing a photo of Varane, Fernandes called the former France international “Rolls-Royce” and shared a heart emoji alongside his message.

From Man Utd to Como for Varane
Varane will play under former Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas, who was appointed head coach of Como this month.
The new Como signing insisted that he is looking forward to meeting Cesc Fabregas again, having played against the Como manager when Varane was a Real Madrid player.
“I will meet Cesc again, but this time not as an opponent,” he said, as per BBC Sport.
“I am very happy, I really like his playing philosophy and his passion for football.”
