Lisandro Martinez had options this summer, with Manchester United and Arsenal both pursuing his signature.
The Mirror reported that he snubbed Arsenal due to his desire to reunite with Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, and we are very thankful that he did.
The reigning Manchester United player of the month has established himself as a major fan favourite, and a regular in the heart of the defence.
His teammates are loving him too, with Martinez making a huge impression, helping the team to a four-match winning run.

Bruno Fernandes hails ‘animal’ Lisandro Martinez
Martinez helped United to a 3-1 win over Arsenal, although had to be substituted late on with a minor injury, with Harry Maguire taking his place. It is not thought to be serious.
The Argentine made no reference to any injury in his post-game message, hailing the team’s success and the support.
He was hailed by United teammates, youth players, and the captain for the last few games, Bruno Fernandes, who hailed him as an ‘animal’.

Martinez’s attitude and nickname of the ‘butcher’ has endeared him to Manchester United fans, and his performance against Liverpool a fortnight ago was the making of him in a Red Devils shirt.
He has established a strong partnership with Raphael Varane, changing the way United defend, to be more on the front foot, more aggressive and less reactive.
Martinez will probably get a rest on Thursday night for the Europa League, before returning to the starting line-up in the Premier League next weekend, fitness permitting.
