Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw lead heartfelt messages to Manuel Ugarte after injury statement

Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte made a statement on his long-term injury and teammates flooded him with support.

Any plans to sell Manuel Ugarte this summer will have to be shelved after the 25-year-old suffered a serious injury at the 2026 World Cup.

Ugarte has ruptured his cruciate ligament, meaning he will likely miss between nine and 10 months of action for Manchester United heading into the 2026/27 season.

Man United players show support for Manuel Ugarte

After suffering the injury, Ugarte released a statement saying he felt as though he had hit “rock bottom”. His United teammates have now shown masses of support.

Bruno Fernandes led the tributes on Instagram to Ugarte, writing: “We’re here for whatever you need, brother.”

Luke Shaw added: “We are with you brother.” Joshua Zirkzee wrote: “Stay strong, bro! ❤️ Godspeed!”

Mason Mount commented: “All here for you brother”. Bryan Mbeumo and Diogo Dalot both said: “I’m with you, brother”.

Leny Yoro, Chido Obi, Ayden Heaven, Matthijs de Ligt, Altay Bayindir, Patrick Dorgu, Jack Fletcher, Shea Lacey and Tyler Fredricson also showed their support in the comments.

When Manuel Ugarte could return for Man United

There were reports that Ugarte was up for sale this summer, and that his departure would have led to another midfield signing at Old Trafford.

But those plans will now have to be scrapped as the Uruguay international aims to recover from his setback.

With a forecast of being out for nine to 10 months, it means that Ugarte may not return to action until April in the 2026/27 season.
