Optimism about Andrey Santos’ role

There is real optimism in Brazil that Andrey Santos will take the Manchester United midfield starting berth occupied by Casemiro.

Trivela reports: “Given his previously chosen replacement for Casemiro and his high quality, Andrey arrives at Manchester United as a potential midfield protagonist.”

With fellow Brazilian Ederson set to sign too, the outlet wonders if Kobbie Mainoo might end up being the odd man out.

“One of the situations to be addressed is the possible addition of Bruno Fernandes and another player, theoretically Ederson or Kobbie Mainoo. If this is the midfield, entirely Portuguese-speaking, it’s possible to say there’s a clear balance of characteristics.

“While Andrey tends to be the positional organizer, Ederson will be vital for pressing and covering long distances. Finally, Bruno is the decision-maker, one of the best in the world last season. A promising trio.”

United could still add a third midfielder to add further depth, with fans keen on another big name.

Gazeta do Parana has optimism about Santos’ career path: “He arrives at Manchester United as one of the most promising Brazilian footballers currently playing in Europe.”

While the TNH1 outlet reflects on Santos’ need to move on, commenting: “At Chelsea, strong competition in midfield made it difficult for the Brazilian to establish himself.”

Sell-on impact

Andrey Santos’ move to Manchester United has a financial benefit for the club where he began his career, Vasco da Gama.

Fan outlet Super Vasco reports: “Vasco is entitled to 2.5% of this transaction due to FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, thus receiving R$8.25 million.” This equates to £1.1 million.

The outlet add: “Andrey arrives in Manchester surrounded by high expectations to take over the starting position and the spot left by fellow Brazilian Casemiro.”
