Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko has revealed the overriding feeling among the squad immediately after the latest win.

We know by now that Manchester United never do anything the easy way.

Even when the team had a 2-0 half-time lead, United were clinging on for the three points by the end, just about holding out for the 2-1 win.

Brentford looked more likely to equalise than United score a third goal.

But they didn’t, and United ended the night with three points.

Benjamin Sesko was among the players to speak out after the game.

Benjamin Sesko on United win

Benjamin Sesko spoke to MUTV after the final whistle, discussing how Brentford did not make it at all easy for United.

“It was difficult, but we fought it till the end.”

He then explained how those sentiments were shared among the United players, who felt a combination of tiredness and relief.

He said: “I just entered the locker room now, and everyone was really that exhausted, because everyone gave every little bit of last sweat.

“I’m really happy with the team performance in general. And there you can see the team spirit and what we’re fighting for.”

It would have been a real gut punch for United to draw the game after putting in so much effort. A draw would have felt like a defeat.

Sesko back on the scoresheet

Benjamin Sesko was back on the scoresheet too, netting the goal that proved to be Manchester United’s winner.

After Casemiro had headed in an early goal for United, Sesko scored towards the end of the first half.

It was actually against the run of play, with Brentford pushing hard for an equaliser. Bruno Fernandes orchestrated a swift counter-attack, picking his pass to Sesko at just the right time.

Sesko is now on 11 goals for the season, while Fernandes has 19 league assists, two shy of an outright single season record.
