Slovenia international Benjamin Sesko has explained the all-important message behind his sensational run of form as a Manchester United striker under Michael Carrick.

Benjamin Sesko has been in and out of the Manchester United starting XI since Michael Carrick was brought back to Old Trafford as interim head coach in January.

Whether it is starting a Premier League match or climbing off the bench, the 22-year-old Slovenian forward has been a key player for United legend Carrick.

The in-form Sesko has netted five times in his nine Premier League matches under Carrick since Ruben Amorim was sacked as Man Utd head coach in January.

Man Utd star Benjamin Sesko talks up the most important message that any striker must understand

Benjamin Sesko has hit double digits for his Manchester United goalscoring tally in his debut season at Old Trafford since last summer’s move from RB Leipzig.

The Slovenia international has found the back of the net 10 times in 28 matches across all competitions during the 2025-26 campaign at the Premier League club.

Man Utd interim boss Michael Carrick has alternated between Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo to lead the frontline for the Red Devils in the post-Ruben Amorim era.

Speaking at the Carrington training complex, Sesko said that his advice for any striker has been that they must maintain their goalscoring “hunger” for their next match.

“As the human beings we are, when you’re scoring always, the hunger to have after scoring is the hardest to do,” he told Manchester United’s official website.

“That’s why I’m also saying to the kids, or when I go to Slovenia in the national team, we always do the signatures and they ask me: ‘What are you doing? What would you give me as advice?’

“I always ask what kind of position they are playing and, if they are a striker, I say: ‘After you are scoring goals, have a hunger for it the next game, even more than you had it before.’

“Not being like: ‘I scored a goal, so I’m relaxed now.’ Because that’s the hardest [thing].”

Benjamin Sesko powerfully defends the meaning behind his striker advice after his Man Utd run of form

The Red Devils signed Sesko in a deal worth £73.7m last summer, with Man Utd agreeing an initial payment of £66.3m to German outfit RB Leipzig for the striker.

The former Leipzig and Salzburg ace explained that his advice for strikers is “really underrated” because of how effective it can be if a player maintains it for the long term.

“I used to have it the same; I scored a goal, so I was relaxed. Then the next game I couldn’t perform,” he added.

“Because I was still [thinking] from the last game: ‘I scored last game.’

“This is really underrated, people don’t know it. That’s where the greatest people are made.

“Always constantly [having] the hunger for goals – they score three, I want to score four. This is the moment where I can improve, to have hunger when I score one, when I score the second, to score the third one, and I’m working on it, of course.

“Because if everything would be completed, then it would not be fair for me, I want to learn throughout the years.”

Man Utd will return to Premier League action after the March international break and the Red Devils will welcome Leeds United to Old Trafford on 13th April.
