Former Manchester United and England player Ben Foster believes that the Red Devils could pursue two managerial options if Ruben Amorim is axed by the club.
Ruben Amorim only arrived at Old Trafford last November from Sporting CP, but the 40-year-old Manchester United manager’s future with the Red Devils is in doubt.
The Portuguese coach has already overseen three Premier League defeats in United’s opening six Premier League matches in the 2025-26 campaign so far.
The Red Devils have only picked up two wins under Amorim this season and United languish in 14th place in the Premier League table after their disappointing form.
Amorim was also left red-faced in August after United’s shock defeat to Grimsby Town at Blundell Park, with the Red Devils crashing out of the Carabao Cup.

Ben Foster makes a case for Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner to succeed Ruben Amorim as the Man Utd manager
Ben Foster is a big fan of Oliver Glasner and has previously suggested that the Crystal Palace boss would be the ideal fit to replace Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
Oliver Glasner has impressed at Crystal Palace since his arrival in England in 2024 and he sensationally led the Eagles to the FA Cup trophy in the 2025 final in May.
The 51-year-old Austrian manager’s long-term future at Selhurst Park remains in doubt, with Eagles head coach Glasner out of contract with Palace next summer.
Foster has labelled former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Glasner as a potential risk-free appointment as United manager if the Red Devils sack Amorim in the short term.
Speaking on ‘Fozcast – The Ben Foster Podcast,’ he said: “I just look at their next appointment, whenever it may be, and would we sit here and go, ‘Is Glasner a risk?’
“No, he’s done it at Palace, he’s won the Europa League, was it at Frankfurt? Yeah.”
Ben Foster puts Unai Emery in the same bracket as Oliver Glasner for potential replacements for Ruben Amorim at Man Utd
Oliver Glasner was the head coach of Eintracht Frankfurt before his arrival at Crystal Palace and the Austrian led the German club to the Europa League trophy in 2022.
The Palace manager, who left Frankfurt in 2023, has also managed German club Wolfsburg and Austrian outfits LASK and SV Ried in his coaching career.
Foster suggested that Aston Villa manager Unai Emery could be another option for United, with the 53-year-old Spaniard coaching “big teams” like Glasner has done.
“He’s [Glasner] managed big teams in Europe, okay? We’re not talking the biggest of big teams, but he has done it, and it’s the same with Emery,” he added.
“Let’s say Emery, for example, whether or not he’d go, but he’s been there, he’s done it. They’re not risks, are they?”
Unai Emery has been at Villa Park since 2022 and has managed several high-profile clubs in Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Villarreal and Sevilla.
