Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens is waiting for his call from Ruben Amorim to show what he can do.
The way Manchester United handled the goalkeeping position this summer was not the smartest.
It took until transfer deadline day for United to sign Senne Lammens, the club’s future first choice goalkeeper, and later sending Andre Onana out on loan.
This came after Onana had turned in a disastrous performance to help knock United out of the Carabao Cup.
Lammens is now at Manchester United, waiting to make his debut. Ruben Amorim sat him on the bench for the derby against City, preferring Altay Bayindir.

Senne Lammens ‘unaffected by pressure’
While Ruben Amorim did not want to throw Lammens straight in, perhaps he should have done, with Bayindir uninspiring in the 3-0 defeat.
Belgian football expert Peter Vandenbempt told Voetbal Nieuws that Lammens has the composure to deal with the pressure.
Vandenbempt explained: “Senne is a natural player who fights for every ball, always wants to be the best, and always keeps his composure.
“He seems completely unaffected by pressure, and don’t forget that he’s a very young goalkeeper.”
The veteran sports writer went on to compare Lammens to one of Manchester United’s greatest ever goalkeepers, Peter Schmeichel.
“His physical presence is also impressive. He reminds me a bit of Peter Schmeichel. He’s a very impressive goalkeeper.”
Lammens is United’s best option
Discussing Senne Lammens’ transfer to Manchester United, Vandenbempt believes the goalkeeper is ‘certainly better’ than Altay Bayindir.
He said: “I thought Onana was a great goalkeeper when he played for Inter, but like many Manchester United players, he seems to have lost some of his strengths since his move to Old Trafford.
“However, I think Senne has everything it takes to be better than Onana, and certainly better than Bayindir.
“He might make the occasional mistake, but he’s incredibly confident and you can trust him as your number one.”
Lammens has now had two full weeks of training at Carrington, where he has impressed third choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton.
The man he has to impress is Amorim, and we hope he has earned the faith to start against Chelsea this weekend.
