Bayern Munich are now showing a surprise interest in appointing former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
We have seen Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel linked with a move to United in recent weeks.
Well, the German could become available soon as results in Bavaria have taken a real turn.
We can’t see Tuchel replacing Erik ten Hag any time soon but Bayern may well axe him – and then go for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has dropped a remarkable claim on social media, stating Bayern are ‘monitoring’ Solskjaer as a potential appointment.
It’s suggested that Bayern’s Christoph Freund has been following Solskjaer for ‘years’ and could move to appoint him until the end of the season if Tuchel doesn’t turn things around.
Bayern results getting worse
Tuchel is a man under immense pressure having suffered a week from hell.
First, Bayern faced a top-of-the-table clash against Bayer Leverkusen – and were hammered 3-0.
Rather than leapfrogging Leverkusen, Bayern ended the night five points adrift and turned their attention to the Champions League.
That didn’t go much better though as Bayern lost 1-0 to Lazio, leaving them lagging behind ahead of the second leg in Munich.
Still, a trip to take on VfL Bochum would surely help Bayern get back on track, right? Wrong.
Bayern produced an embarrassing display to lose 3-2, leaving them eight points behind leaders Leverkusen.
Winning the league isn’t just an expectation at Bayern, it’s a requirement – and Tuchel’s dismal run leaves him susceptible to the chop.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could finally work with Harry Kane
Few could have expected Solskjaer to be on the Bayern radar but here we are.
A move to the Allianz Arena would finally give Solskjaer the chance to manage Harry Kane – a player he wanted at United.
Solskjaer told BBC Sport in 2023 that he would have signed Kane ‘every day of the week’ and even believed that Kane wanted to join United.
“I would have signed Kane every day of the week and my understanding was that he wanted to come. But the club didn’t have the budget with the financial constraints from Covid-19, there was no bottomless pit,” said Solskjaer.
United weren’t able to sign Kane but Bayern were, raiding Tottenham Hotspur for their top striker back in August.
Kane made the move in search of trophies but now finds himself in danger of an empty-handed season unless Solskjaer can potentially become saviour.
