Champions League winner reportedly on Man Utd wish list if Ten Hag axed

Manchester United will reportedly hold an interest in Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel should Erik ten Hag lose his job in the coming months.

Ineos are on board at Old Trafford and that means a period of analysis.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co will be looking through every part of United and attempting to find answers ahead of the summer transfer window.

One big move has already been made with Omar Berrada coming in as CEO, leaving Manchester City for a big role at United.

The arrival of Ineos will put boss Erik ten Hag in the spotlight too, with the Dutchman battling to keep his job after a disappointing campaign.

Thomas Tuchel linked with Manchester United move

Ineos may well want their own man in come the summer and The Telegraph now report that Thomas Tuchel could be in the mix.

It’s stated that Tuchel would be among United’s targets should Ten Hag be axed in the coming months.

Tuchel was actually linked with the United job back in 2022 as Chelsea went through a period of real uncertainty and United weighed up managerial options.

The job went to Ten Hag and Tuchel was sacked by Chelsea just months later, paving the way for his 2023 move to Bayern.

A Champions League winner with Chelsea, Tuchel is seemingly on the United radar and his experience at the highest level will count for something.

We have our concerns though – especially as he battles through a disappointing season with Bayern…

United should be wary of Tuchel move

Bayern boldly sacked Julian Nagelsmann for Tuchel last year and this season hasn’t really gone as they would have hoped.

Tuchel and Bayern sit second in the Bundesliga table and, whilst only being two points behind the unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen, they aren’t quite meeting the enormous standards set at the Allianz Arena.

Tuchel was given Kim Min-jae and Harry Kane over the summer, yet Bayern are left hoping for a Leverkusen slip-up in the coming months.

That is not what Tuchel was brought in for and reports in recent days have suggested that his job could be on the line due to concerns about the type of play on offer.

There are allegedly concerns that Tuchel hasn’t brought a clear style to Bayern – similar to some of the criticism heading Ten Hag’s way this season.

Tuchel has proven himself as a tactician at the very highest level but it’s worth noting that his time with Chelsea ended in mixed fashion too and we would be wary of bringing him back to the Premier League after some real ups and downs in recent years.

Tuchel would be a big appointment in terms of reputation but he hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations at Bayern and it just leaves us a little hesitant about a move to Old Trafford.
