Ballon D’Or winner slams Man Utd loanee who ‘cannot’ save his club

Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho has had a slow start to life back in the Bundesliga and now he’s been slated by a German legend.

23-year-old Jadon Sancho has had a nightmarish campaign which began with his public spat with Erik ten Hag in September.

With no repair in their relationship imminent, Manchester United sent the winger back to Borussia Dortmund where he’d either raise his value or come back a more confident and in-form player.

But with his current form leaving much to be desired, he’s been criticised by legendary German Lothar Matthaus.

Lothar Matthaus slams Jadon Sancho

Manchester United had hoped that sending Sancho on loan to Borussia Dortmund might return his confidence and some value, however, that has not been the case mainly.

Instead, Sancho has failed to impress, making him a target for critique. This has now come in the form of the legendary World Cup and Ballon d’Or winning German, Matthaus.

Now as per Ruhr 24, he’s been slating Sancho’s Dortmund displays.

“Sancho cannot be the saviour for me. This has been exaggerated by the media again. He hasn’t played for a year. That’s too cheap for me.”

And further: “I’m getting a player who played a lot three years ago but hasn’t gotten any playing practice in the last two or three years. Can I expect such a player to turn the thing you did wrong in the preliminary round?”

How has Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho played at Dortmund?

Since returning to the Bundesliga, Sancho has made five appearances with one assist to show for his efforts.

Despite a solid opening three games, he’s struggled in his past two, only being handed two minutes against Freiburg on February 9th.

This past weekend against Wolfsburg he played for 79 minutes, in which he created a chance but did little else.

In this same period, for United, Alejandro Garnacho has taken the right-wing position at United and scored twice and assisted once in six games. In this time not having a bad game either, which shows that perhaps United have outgrown the need for Sancho to come good.
