Manchester United have a strong history of creative players and leading the charge right now is one of the best to play for the club in the past decade.

Current assist leader for 2023/24 predictably enough is Bruno Fernandes, who has five for the season. It says a lot about Fernandes that he will probably be disappointed that he does not have more, even though he has a further five goals to his name.

Fernandes missed the last game through suspension and will be eligible to face West Ham this coming weekend.

The club’s number eight comes into the game after receiving an award for his performances through the calendar year of 2023.

Bruno Fernandes wins award

Bruno Fernandes has been presented with an award for being the ‘Best Playmaker of 2023’, via SofaScore, who call the award ‘The Artist Award’.

The award is supported by statistical data which shows how consistent Bruno Fernandes has been for Manchester United.

This comes amid a relentless fixture schedule in 2023 for Manchester United which has seen Fernandes play almost every game for the club, and also star for Portugal in Euro 2024 qualifying.

He has been a consistent player for Erik ten Hag‘s side, who have lacked some consistency during the first part of this season, after an excellent start to 2023.

Fernandes has become the club’s permanent captain, and also won his first trophy for Manchester United earlier this year, lifting the Carabao Cup at Wembley with a win over Newcastle.

Rasmus Hojlund wants a word

These numbers being put up by Bruno Fernandes won’t go unnoticed by the club’s new striker Rasmus Hojlund, who is still searching for his first Premier League goal.

You would have thought, with a creative maestro like Fernandes behind him, that Hojlund could not possibly fail, but it just isn’t happening for him so far at Old Trafford.

Hojlund does have five Champions League goals, and just looks short of confidence right now. He needs Fernandes to be at his creative best in the upcoming games to help him snap his goal drought.
