South American football expert Tim Vickery has told Sky Sports he is not at all surprised by Manchester United’s pursuit of Antony.
United are pushing to sign the Brazil winger from Ajax, who are demanding a fee around £80 million, ESPN report.
Antony is said to be determined to make the move, with Fabrizio Romano saying the winger is ‘obsessive’ with making a switch to Old Trafford.
His agents are even claimed to be station in England already, in order to swiftly facilitate a move.

Antony’s quality talked up
South American football expert Tim Vickery gave his thoughts on Manchester United’s pursuit of the winger.
He says he is greatly impressed with the work manager Erik ten Hag did with him at Ajax, signing him from Sao Paulo in 2020.
Vickery told Sky Sports: “As soon as Ten Hag went to Old Trafford, I thought, he’s going to take Antony with him, because Ten Hag has done such a wonderful job of developing this player. Left footed winger, when he went to Ajax he was talent but he was very raw.
“Ten Hag’s developed him into a quick little winger who can play either flank, his decision making has greatly improved, he can also work back and put in a shift so as soon as Ten Hag went there, I thought, Antony’s his man.
“In the great tradition of wing play that Old Trafford has, you could really imagine the fans loving what Antony can supply.”
In a separate interview with Off The Ball, Vickery added “He’s a very very talented player,” before remarking that considering the high fee United spent on defender Lisandro Martinez, the high valuation Ajax are placing on Antony, seems plausible.
It has been claimed by Fabrizio Romano that Antony has already agreed personal terms with Manchester United, but the two clubs have not yet agreed a fee.
Antony has not trained with Ajax since the middle of last week, and also sat out the Dutch side’s most recent game.
