Manchester United loanee Rasmus Hojlund is in a tough moment with Napoli right now.

After a superb start on loan at Napoli, Rasmus Hojlund is now experiencing another one of his goal droughts.

Hojlund’s last Napoli goal came in early October. And he did not get very close in their 2-0 defeat to Bologna on November 9.

The Manchester United loanee failed to land a shot on target, and lost 13 duels during the game. He managed only two touches inside the Bologna box during the course of the game.

It was a performance reminiscent of what Manchester United fans saw of Hojlund last season, where he went on a 27-game run without a goal.

Antonio Conte responds to Rasmus Hojlund performance

Napoli have now scored just one goal in their last four games. And the tide has been turning against Rasmus Hojlund, with the Italian press critical of his performance in the Champions League in midweek in their defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Manager Antonio Conte was furious with the way Napoli’s form has dropped off, but he did have kind words to say about Rasmus Hojlund.

Despite a lack of goal threat from the Dane, Conte said he was pleased with what he saw.

Conte told TMW: “He was perhaps the best player on the pitch. He held his ground and fought.

“We should have supported him more.”

Hojlund was booked after raising his arm to Bologna’s Lewis Ferguson while tussling for the ball. It’s likely that his determination endeared him to Conte.

Antonio Conte is not happy with Napoli situation

Antonio Conte won the league with Napoli last season, but one of his troubles during his management spells has been sustaining success.

The latest defeat leaves Napoli in fourth place in Serie A, and Conte’s words after the game showed an unsettled manager.

Conte said: “The energy has definitely changed; there’s not the positive energy of last year. The guys know exactly how I feel, and I’m sorry I can’t change this energy.

“I’m not doing a good job, or someone doesn’t want to hear it.”

Scott McTominay also struggled, failing to win a tackle or land a shot on target before being substituted in the 81st minute.

Hojlund immediately praised Conte for helping him settle after he joined Napoli on loan.

If the manager did walk away or force an exit this season, it could complicate matters for the Manchester United loanee.
