Napoli manager Antonio Conte is happy to see Rasmus Hojlund clinch his move from Manchester United.

Rasmus Hojlund‘s transfer from Manchester United to Napoli is official, with a clause activated to make it permanent.

Hojlund said goodbye to Manchester United on social media after Napoli clinched Champions League qualification.

The Dane said that his priority is to now chase new dreams, after a bittersweet spell at Old Trafford.

Hojlund was sent on loan to Napoli at the start of the season after Benjamin Sesko was signed as United’s new lead striker.

Napoli boss Antonio Conte wants to help Hojlund reach his full potential in Italy.

Antonio Conte praises Rasmus Hojlund

Napoli manager Antonio Conte has been a big supporter of Rasmus Hojlund ever since he joined the club.

Conte told TMW that he recognises the growth shown by both Hojlund and teammate Scott McTominay, who joined from Manchester United in 2024.

Speaking after the 3-0 away win over relegated Pisa, Conte said: “They’ve grown so much, so much. I think Scott has grown exponentially, becoming a complete and all-around midfielder, and he’s proven it on the pitch, game after game.

“As for Rasmus, he just needs to keep working. He’s really young, guys, only 23, and he needs to understand that he needs to make the most of every single day to improve.”

Conte urged Hojlund to keep on following his instructions if he wants to develop into a real top striker.

“I think he has enormous room for growth to become a truly strong striker. He needs to put his head down and work, blindly believe in what the coach tells him, and continue doing what he’s already doing with great commitment.

“We’re talking about guys with their heads on straight. They’re cheerful guys, always smiling, who love being in Naples. They love this passion for football and they let themselves be carried away, because they know how incredibly captivating the enthusiasm of this club can be.”

Scott McTominay’s commitment and professionalism has never been in doubt, and for Conte to place Hojlund in the same category is a big compliment.

Conte defended Hojlund’s form

Rasmus Hojlund has scored 15 goals this season. 11 of these goals came in Serie A.

Hojlund netted the 11th in stoppage time against Pisa, ending a drought since his 10th league goal, which came in early March.

The Dane had gone six full matches without even managing a shot on target, drawing criticism in Italy.

Conte had defended Hojlund’s form, pointing out that he has led the line alone for Napoli this season, and was feeling the impact.

Hojlund will get a rest this summer with Denmark failing to qualify for the World Cup.

And who knows, perhaps a Champions League reunion against Manchester United beckons.
