Manchester United are currently trying to beat fierce rivals Manchester City to the signature of Antoine Semenyo.

Ruben Amorim and Manchester United are more than familiar with the talent of Antoine Semenyo after watching him shine for Bournemouth in the recent 4-4 draw at Old Trafford.

Semenyo has a £65m release clause active this January, and the Red Devils have barged their way to the front of the queue to sign him.

It was recently revealed that Semenyo rejected Tottenham, meaning it is now a head-to-head battle between the two Manchester clubs to sign the 25-year-old forward.

United fans are desperate to sign Semenyo, and it seems the lure of Old Trafford could help swing things in Ineos’ favour.

Antoine Semenyo is realising the size of Man United

The past decade has not been up to United’s usual standards in terms of winning trophies, but the club is still the biggest in the world, and that is dawning on Semenyo.

Speaking on the Talk of the Devils podcast, Andy Mitten gave some interesting insight into the Semenyo saga.

“I spoke to quite a few people about him. I’m sort of hoping for this sort of background – ‘he’s actually a Man United fan.’ But he’s not, he’s an Arsenal fan, unfortunately.

“But Arsenal, I’m told, didn’t want him. I think United will try as hard as possible to sign him, and there will be competition from several other clubs.

“I’m told Tottenham have got money. I’m told that Manchester City and Liverpool have also been of interest.

“But I know he’s been surrounded by a lot of Man United people over the years. Big United fans. I know that he’s in contact with some of them still, but he’s just soaked in how massive Manchester United are.

“If he’s weighing up where to go to, then he could be thinking – I could be part of this great rebirth playing for the biggest club by a distance in the Premier League. If you want worldwide celebrity, bring it on.”

Antoine Semenyo could have the same dream as Matheus Cunha

Like Semenyo, Matheus Cunha broke out as a Premier League star in recent years before making a big-money move to United.

The Brazilian is now being compared to Eric Cantona and hailed as a perfect United player. He has quickly become a fan favourite and is already being considered a transfer success.

Cunha wants to bring the glory years back at United, and the prospect of being a player who helps to make that happen proved too much to turn down.

If Semenyo has a similar ambition and wants to establish himself as a world-class player at the biggest club in England, United’s offer is on the table.

Amorim is a huge admirer of Semenyo, and supporters can’t wait to welcome him to Old Trafford.
