Anthony Martial pictured enjoying his holiday after difficult season

Anthony Martial is looking to refresh after a difficult season for two clubs.

The Manchester United forward faces an uncertain future after scoring only two goals in 2021/22.

In fact Martial has fewer than 10 across the last two seasons, scoring seven in 2020/21.

Martial is taking a break to try and put the past season behind him. He was pictured enjoying his holiday on his Instagram feed.

Martial would have loved to be in the France international set up right now, having been part of their UEFA Nations League winning squad back in October.

But he was dropped for the November fixtures and has not been called up at all in 2022, with France preferring in-form RB Leipzig star Christian Nkunku.

Martial went on loan to Sevilla in January with the aim of getting his season back on track.

Unfortunately he suffered more injuries (3) than he scored goals (1), and he has been left off in a worse situation than when he headed out.

Spanish newspaper AS  described his loan spell as a ‘disaster’, with Martial falling short of expectations, and they won’t be looking to sign him permanently.

United are unlikely to want to keep Martial either, despite a lack of forwards, but it will also depend on the Frenchman’s desire to stay or go.

He could still force his way into the France squad for the World Cup if he starts next season with a flourish, and that is more likely to happen away from Old Trafford than if he stays.
