Anthony Martial could soon be getting paid by Man Utd’s owners after his Mexican nightmare, but there’s a catch.

After an injury-ridden and frustrating time out in Mexico for Monterrey, Anthony Martial is on the lookout for a new club again.

The hope was that this encouraging spell in Greece with AEK Athens would open a few doors for him, but that momentum was completely halted in Mexico.

However, Ineos are interested in the opportunity to sign him, with the Frenchman offering himself in France, and Ineos are the only ones to not say no outright.

Anthony Martial opportunity interests OGC Nice

Martial fancies a return to French football as the place where he first broke through, but the way forward is difficult.

A return to a top-five league after struggling in Mexican football is hardly easy, and Footmercato reports that Martial has been getting predictable responses.

His representatives have offered him to every Ligue 1 club, and they have all said no, except for one.

That one club is Ineos-owned OGC Nice, although Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been trying to sell that asset for a while now.

Nice are open to the opportunity of bringing him back to France, but for that to happen, he will have to be realistic about his demands.

At this stage of his career, and coming off an embarrassing spell in Mexico, Martial is in no position to demand high wages, which is reportedly the case.

The report states that Martial’s demands are “substantial”, which will cause Nice to trim their wage bill just to be able to fit him in.

They won’t do that for a player who’s clearly past his best, and Martial is in need of a club here, so the ball is in his court.

Man Utd’s Premier League fixtures for 2026/27 have now been CONFIRMED – What do you think?

He could take a huge pay cut for a great chance to return to European football and showcase whatever football is left in him, or stay a free agent while chasing another big payday.

Ineos are open to helping him out in a roundabout way years after he left Man Utd. It is up to him to see sense and adjust his demands accordingly.

No other club in a top-five league will offer him that opportunity anymore
