The way Manchester United’s season was shaping up, the script was set up for Anthony Elanga to potentially score a winner on his return to Old Trafford with Nottingham Forest.

Instead we got a far more unpredictable match between the two teams, with Forest racing into a 2-0 lead after just four minutes.

Manchester United then had to fight back into the game and eventually won 3-2.

Anthony Elanga only came on in the 81st minute, and thankfully was unable to make an impact.

Manchester United win

Manchester United dominated the game after the fourth minute and were well worth the three points.

Nottingham Forest were not happy with the way the game went, with Joe Worrall given a red card and United awarded a penalty, in separate incidents.

Anthony Elanga had no complaints in his post-match message, where he said he was delighted to make his return to Old Trafford.

He wrote that he was ‘disappointed’, while also happy to briefly be back at Old Trafford.

Manchester United edge close battle

Manchester United may have dominated most of the game but it was still a tense end at Old Trafford with 11 minutes of injury time played.

It was a strange one, where Forest had been timewasting after taking the lead, especially at 2-1 up in the second half, and then, by the end of the game, they almost profited from all the added on time when it was their time to chase a goal.

United had to cling on at the end, and fortunately there was no late twist. Elanga has never scored in a first team game at Old Trafford, and thankfully that record did not change in stoppage time.
