Andy Mitten claims Michael Carrick is not playing his preferred style of football at Manchester United, as he puts forward a case to remain head coach beyond this season.
Michael Carrick was appointed interim head coach at Manchester United in January, succeeding Ruben Amorim in the hot seat at Old Trafford.
After winning nine of the first 13 matches under Carrick, United are on the verge of securing Champions League qualification. A feat that could make the next decision an easy one for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada.
Judgements are being made on Carrick, though it has been claimed by a reliable journalist that the 44-year-old has yet to implement his preferred way of playing despite getting results.

Carrick says Top 5 isn’t enough. Honestly, based on his run, do you think we are a genuine Title Contender for next season?
Michael Carrick favourite for Man Utd job
It is understood that only Andoni Iraola stands in Carrick’s way for the United job.
United haven’t been blowing teams off the pitch, but they are getting the results required to seal a Champions League spot. Carrick knew from the first day that it was his objective.
United We Stand editor Andy Mitten suggests the style of football United are playing currently is far from what Carrick would ideally like to implement.
“This isn’t Michael Carrick’s team yet,” Mitten said on Talk of the Devils.
“I’m told he’s not even playing the type of football he wants to play.”
This shows that Carrick is willing to adapt to get the best out of the players at his disposal. It’s also proof that he is the perfect antidote to Amorim, who wanted the squad to adapt to his preferred system at their expense.
Mitten added that Carrick remains the favourite for the job, saying: “Michael Carrick is the clear favourite [to take the job], but a definite decision has not been made yet.”

A win will seal Champions League qualification…
Victory over Liverpool would give Michael Carrick more credit
Not only would beating Liverpool secure United’s place in the Champions League, but it would give the club bragging rights over their rivals.
Victory for United would see Carrick’s side move six points adrift of Liverpool in the Premier League table.
It would also grant Carrick more credit for the job he has done to date.
That might be what Carrick needs to clinch the job and put an end to whispers of Iraola being United’s next appointment.
