Andy Cole shares what the ‘key’ is to make Benjamin Sesko a star at Manchester United

Benjamin Sesko has not had a flying start at Manchester United, but Andy Cole still believes the Slovenian can become a star player in the team.

Ruben Amorim will have some concerns over the international break in terms of avoiding extra injuries.

Benjamin Sesko and Harry Maguire left the pitch injured when Manchester United drew 2-2 with Tottenham last weekend.

It remains to be seen if Sesko or Maguire will be involved next week when United take on Everton at Old Trafford.

United have three striker options to replace Sesko, but Amorim could stick with a front three of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Amad when they host the Toffees.

It’s a boost for United that Sesko will remain at Carrington during the international break, as it allows the club to keep a close eye on his recovery.

Amorim revealed that Sesko sustained a knee injury against Spurs, but he was unable to provide a specific return date for the striker.

Andy Cole gives verdict on Benjamin Sesko’s start at Man Utd

Since joining United in the summer, Sesko has made 12 appearances with a tally of two goals and one assist.

While Gary Neville has been critical of Sesko, it’s worth noting that he is a young striker trying to adjust to the Premier League for the first time in his career.

That is why it’s a completely different story with Mbeumo and Cunha, as they arrived having played in the league at their previous clubs.

Meanwhile, United’s director of football Jason Wilcox has been complimentary of Sesko, but now club legend Andy Cole has urged everyone to have patience with the striker.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Cole said: “Yeah, definitely. Coming to England anyway, you’re coming to the Premier League is totally different to any league.

“But coming to Manchester United and trying to make it Manchester United as Manchester United number nine, you know, there’s going to be massive expectations on you. It could become daunting.

“Of course, it could be, but you just got to go out there, you got to do your own thing, keep working hard, and continue to do what got you to move in the first place.”

Nowadays, with the pressures that come with social media, players get ridiculed when they don’t hit the ground running at United. It doesn’t help when former players are critical because their comments carry weight.

At least Cole is speaking from the perspective of being a top goalscorer for United.

Andy Cole won 9 major trophies at Man Utd

Cole won the Premier League five times during his time at Old Trafford.

He also lifted the FA Cup twice and the Champions League, as well as the Intercontinental Cup.

Would Karim Adeyemi be a good signing for Manchester United?

Cole’s best year at United came in 1999 when he was part of the Treble-winning side.

Throughout his time at United, Cole scored 121 goals and is ranked in the top 20 United goalscorers of all time.
