Andre Onana is set to return to Manchester United in the summer once his loan deal at Turkish club Trabzonspor ends.
Ruben Amorim made it clear last summer that Manchester United needed a change of goalkeeper, meaning Andre Onana was pushed to the exit door.
United struck an £18 million deal for Senne Lammens on deadline day, and Onana was loaned out to Trabzonspor for the whole of the 2025/26 season.
The difference between Andre Onana and Senne Lammens’ start at Man Utd is HUGE
Why did we keep Andre Onana so long?!
Lammens has been a huge upgrade on Onana, and the 29-year-old Cameroon shot-stopper has not exactly been in great form over in Turkey.
Onana endured a nightmare performance as Trabzonspor lost 3-2 to Fenerbahce yesterday and it feels like his value is trickling away as each day passes.

Man United may be stuck with Andre Onana wage problem
Onana has held talks with Inter Milan over a potential summer move, which suggests that he is expecting to return to Old Trafford this summer and search for a new club to join.
United are set to make a loss on Onana, and frankly, Ineos will be keen to find him a new club as soon as possible due to his salary.
Man United’s rivals are overtaking them in the financial stakes
What does Sir Jim need to do to fix this MESS?
On his current deal, Onana is earning £120,000 per week at United, which equates to just over £6 million per year.
If he returns to Manchester, that is a huge price to pay for a goalkeeper who will no doubt be second string to Lammens. Onana’s contract is valid until 2028, so there will be an urgency behind the scenes to get him off the club’s books sooner rather than later.
Andre Onana’s wages at Man United could rise when he returns
Ineos have worked hard to balance United’s wage bill since taking charge of the club, so the last thing they will want is Onana returning and draining resources without even playing.
Trabzonspor are currently paying all of Onana’s wages, so his return to Manchester will take its toll.
Incredibly, Onana’s wages could even rise when he returns. That is because there is a Champions League clause in Onana’s contract which means he earns more when United are in the top tier of European football.
As per The Mirror, Onana’s wages are around £170,000 per week when United are in the Champions League.
United are currently fourth in the table and on track to qualify for the Champions League, which only adds more urgency to the growing Onana issue on the horizon.
