Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is on the brink of joining Turkish side Trabzonspor before their transfer window comes to a close.
United in Focus confirmed on Sunday that Andre Onana agreed to join Trabzonspor, around 24 hours after Manchester United struck a loan deal with the Turkish Super Lig side.
On deadline day, United announced an £18m deal for Senne Lammens, with the 23-year-old Belgian expected to become the long-term number one at Old Trafford.
Lammens’ arrival pushed Andre Onana down the pecking order in a year where he will be wanting to play regularly ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Trabzonspor deal is a straight loan for the 2025/26 season, but it is still set to significantly benefit United financially.

Andre Onana’s wages completely covered by Trabzonspor
Ineos have utilised plenty of loans this summer to clear out Amorim’s squad and keep control of the club’s wage bill.
Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund have all left on loan with their respective clubs agreeing to cover at least a majority of their wages.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Onana’s salary will be completely covered by Trabzonspor over the 25/26 campaign.
In 2024/25, Onana earned £120,000 per week at United, which equates to £6.2m per year. The Trabzonspor deal will completely clear that from the wage bill at Old Trafford.
According to The Athletic, sources close to Onana insist he will earn close to double his United wages during his loan in Turkey.
Ineos will look to sell Andre Onana in 2026
A straight loan deal with Trabzonspor means Onana is set to return to Manchester next summer.
Onana’s United contract is valid until 2028, so Ineos will want to find a permanent solution sooner rather than later.
In an ideal world, Onana impresses out on loan, enjoys a strong AFCON over the winter and drums up interest from clubs around Europe.
United set a £30m asking price for Onana this summer, but his underwhelming performances for the Red Devils have not encouraged any interested parties to table an offer.
But that could change in 2026 if Onana impresses this season. Ineos will hope to at least recoup some of the £44 million spent on Onana back in 2023.
