Manchester United fought to a dramatic win against Manchester City, showing the improvement made by the side under Erik ten Hag.
Last season United were easily beaten home and away by City, and earlier this season was a no-contest, with City winning 6-3, leading 6-1 at one stage.
This match was far more competitive, and when City took the lead, United responded with fight, summing up the team’s season, displaying an ability to pick themselves up from setbacks.
Bruno Fernandes‘ smart goal was followed by Marcus Rashford, who else, netting his 16th strike of the season.

Memorable win for Manchester United
It was a day where everybody associated with Manchester United was left immensely proud, from the players, staff, and supporters.
It was interesting to also note a couple of celebratory messages on social media from Eric Bailly and Ander Herrera.
Both players were part of the last United side to win a trophy in 2017. Herrera left for PSG and currently plays on loan for Athletic Bilbao, while Eric Bailly is still under contract to Manchester United until 2024, and out on loan at Marseille.
The duo sent messages to Manchester United’s Instagram account, celebrating the victory.
This was more than just another three points. This was a sign Erik ten Hag’s side are back among the best, confirmation that a recent winning run against lesser teams, should not be dismissed.
Already this season United have beaten Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham at Old Trafford, with Chelsea still to visit.
Can we dream of a title challenge? Who knows. Let’s see where we are at the end of this current week after matches away at Crystal Palace and Arsenal, and also remember Sir Alex Ferguson’s words that only in April, can teams really start thinking about winning the league, if they are in the mix.
