Manchester United loanee Amad made another vital contribution as Sunderland earned a draw last night.
Championship Young Player of the Season nominee Amad continues to kick on after being shortlisted for the honour.
After a winning goal for the Black Cats at the weekend, his 12th strike of the season, Amad turned provider this time around, with an assist.
Amad supplied the pass for Joe Geldhardt to score Sunderland’s goal in a 1-1 draw. The striker still had plenty left to do, but it was the Manchester United loanee’s instinctive pass on the counter attack which put him in position to go on to find the back of the net.
Amad stars again
A home draw against Huddersfield was a disappointing result for a Sunderland side who really needed to win to stand any chance of making the play-offs.
Amad featured in the number 10 role again, and what makes him so good at it, is that he retains the ball so well, while still creating chances.
He made three key passes in the win, while still completing 94 per cent of his passes. He has a real instinct of knowing what pass to make, and when.
The 20-year-old was a threat throughout, trying to make things happen. He had five shots at goal, although saw two blocked by defenders.
His work rate was strong too. Amad made 10 ball recoveries, won five duels, and made two interceptions.
Amad has 12 goals for the season, and this was his third assist. He will want to improve the assist numbers, but these will also depend on the quality of player he has alongside him.
He is creating multiple chances each game on a regular basis, and if he does that at Manchester United next season, he could have a hatful of assists to show for it.
