Manchester United’s players have something to smile about again after a morale-boosting victory.
Following an energy-sapping loss to Manchester City, Manchester United got back to winning ways against Chelsea.
Chelsea have failed to win a league game at Old Trafford since 2013, and they never looked likely in their most recent attempt to break that hoodoo.
An early sending off ruined whatever gameplan Chelsea had, and United took advantage with two first half goals that were enough to earn three points, eventually leading to a 2-1 victory.

Patrick Dorgu provides his first assist
Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro scored Manchester United’s goals, and the first one was assisted by Danish international Patrick Dorgu.
Dorgu’s header across the penalty box opened an opportunity for Bruno Fernandes to beat the last man and divert the ball into the net.
It was Dorgu’s first assist since joining United in January 2025, and well overdue.
Dorgu is still searching for his first goal, although did score in pre-season, and hit the post in United’s opening game.
The left wing-back was frequently in the final third as United attacked, and if he keeps on getting touches in dangerous areas then he will make an impact with increasing regularity.
Dorgu played all 90 minutes and was just as important at the defensive end, winning three tackles and making two clearances to help United to grind out the win.
Amad makes Evra comparison
Teammate Amad Diallo was among those who appreciated Patrick Dorgu’s efforts, responding to his post-match Instagram post.
Dorgu wrote: “One more step in the right direction.”
Amad wrote: “Patrice dorgu evra,” comparing the wing-back to Manchester United great Patrice Evra, one of the great personalities of Sir Alex Ferguson’s team.
Fernandes, grateful for the assist, wrote: “Love it kid,” in response to the former Lecce star’s performance.

Comparing Dorgu to Denis Irwin would be an even higher compliment – but it’s important to note the ages in play here.
Irwin’s final appearance for United came in 2002, a couple of months before Amad was born in July the same year.
Dorgu was born in 2004, and both of them will have seen Patrice Evra in action in a United title-winning side as late as 2013.
The Frenchman is the gold standard for this generation, and Dorgu is doing his best to one day genuinely try and reach his level.
