Amad has not been involved in Manchester United’s pre season training so far.

That’s because he is now with the Ivory Coast as they prepare for the Olympic games.

Amad shared a picture on his Instagram feed hard at work with his teammates.

Eric Bailly was not present, nor was Franck Kessie, one of the other over 23 players. They are expected to join the squad shortly.

The Olympic tournament kicks off in late July.

Amad and Bailly will likely have to to quarantine after arrival back in the UK from the games in Tokyo. This could mean they are unavailable for the start of the Premier League season.

In both cases this is not disastrous for United, but it does take some squad depth away.

Both Bailly and Amad could really have benefitted from a full pre season with United, due to other senior players being at the Euros.

Playing international games at this level will still be good experience for Amad. He scored a winner for the senior side in a recent friendly. There will be a lot of eyes on him to show what he can do.
