Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has praised two players for the Red Devils players in particular, following a torrid time with injuries.

Amad Diallo suffered a nasty injury during pre-season for Manchester United and had been ruled out for the Red Devils for over four months but made his long-awaited return against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

The Ivorian shone on loan at Sunderland for Tony Mowbray’s side including a raft of stunning goals, with a beautiful curling effort against Preston North End a particular standout.

United have had problems on the right-hand side of their attack all season and the hope will be that the return of the Ivorian could help solve these fundamental problems.

Amad on key teammates

Speaking to the United website, Amad revealed that two United players were vital during his long path on the road of recovery and believes the pair of them are good leaders.

Lisandro Martinez helped me a lot because he was injured also,” Amad revealed. “Every time, when we are at training, he spoke with me and said: ‘It’s nothing, Amad. Keep training hard’. Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro also. They are good leaders. Everyone helped a lot. The physios helped me a lot. So now, thanks God, I am back with the team. I am very happy.

“I had one month out with the physio to train alone and, after that, on 1 December, I go with the team and do team training,” he recalled. “That’s why I was so happy to come back to the team after my injury.”

As Antony continues to struggle on the right-hand side for the Red Devils with 0 goals or assists in the Premier League this season, Amad’s chance in the first team may arrive sooner than expected.

Amad could be vital

Throughout practically the entirety of this season, United’s attack has been mainly funneled down the left-hand side with Marcus Rashford looking like the most dangerous outlet of the front three this season.

With a fit and firing Amad, who likes to link up play but is also incredibly fast, this could be the key to a more balanced attack for the Red Devils.

United take on Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup on Monday night and the hope will be that the Ivorian forward will start the game and impress from the off.
