Ruben Amorim has dropped Amad Diallo into the right wing-back role after Manchester United brought Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford back in the summer.

Mbeumo left Brentford and signed for United back in July and the summer signing has excelled in the early months of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.
The 26-year-old Cameroon international has scored six times and picked up an assist in 14 matches across all competitions for the Red Devils this season.
Mbeumo has been deployed as the right-sided No 10 in Amorim’s tactical system for United and has linked up superbly well with Red Devils teammate Amad.

Amad Diallo has continued to remain a key Manchester United first-team player under Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim amid his position change.
The 23-year-old Ivorian winger has impressed in his attacking output alongside Bryan Mbeumo, but Amad has struggled with his defensive duties at times.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Amad opened up about his dynamic with former Brentford ace Mbeumo and the rapport that they built on the pitch and outside of it as well.

“Like you said, at the beginning, it was a little bit hard to play together, but we tried to build some things, not only on the pitch, but even outside the pitch because we speak the same language, French,” he said.
“So, it was a little bit easier for us to understand what we can do on the pitch and outside the pitch.
“So, we tried to build that relationship, and what you can see on the pitch, we are trying to do better every game, and we want to continue like this for the end of the season.”
Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo both think their Man Utd success has benefited from one thing
Mbeumo represents the Cameroon international team, but the United forward was born in France and started his senior playing career at French side Troyes.
Amad is able to speak French and the Ivory Coast winger feels that the fact he can speak the same language as the former Troyes player has done wonders for them.
“Honestly, at the beginning, it wasn’t easy, but like I said, because we speak French, it came a bit easier because we can speak in French,” he said.
“And then the manager and the staff are also there to help us. So, we are trying to do better every game.”

Mbeumo was then asked if he wanted to add anything else to what Amad had already said and the United ace echoed the sentiments about them speaking French.
“No, he’s right,” he said.
“Obviously, when we speak the same language, it’s easier to find the links because we can talk about what happened even during the game.
“It’s easier because sometimes he wants the ball somewhere, so I know, and me the same.
“Even after the game, we can discuss some offensive play that we could have done better. It’s just easier.”
Both Mbeumo and Amad are set to miss first-team football with United in the coming weeks due to the 2025 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations starting this month.
