Manchester United youngster Alvaro Fernandez has a ‘good chance’ of making the first team this season.
The Athletic report the Spanish left-back is in contention to secure a first team squad place for 2023/24.
Fernandez spent last season on loan at Preston North End in the Championship, the first loan spell of his career.
The 20-year-old had previously made the Manchester United bench under Ralf Rangnick, but is yet to make his debut.

Alvaro Fernandez plans
Erik ten Hag is reported to be interested in adding Alvaro Fernandez as a first team option to provide depth at the left-back position.
United do have Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, but at times last season Shaw was used as a centre-back, and Diogo Dalot had to be switched over to right-back.
Fernandez has not yet had an opportunity to work with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.
He was sent out on loan at the start of July last year, which meant he played no part in pre-season.
Fernandez featured regularly for Preston, winning their young player of the year award.
He is expected to take a step forward in his career this coming season, with The Athletic reporting a loan to a Premier League side is also a possibility.
Manchester United signed Fernandez from Real Madrid in 2020, the same summer Alejandro Garnacho joined from Atletico Madrid.
He is one of the real players to look out for in pre-season, and will be determined to grab a chance which could shape his next 12 months.
