Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim leads his Manchester United team into battle for the first time this weekend.

After managing an all-conquering Sporting team in Portugal, Ruben Amorim has a different task on his hands at Manchester United.

Amorim’s United take on Ipswich Town away from home in his first match in charge, where he will be looking to replicate his winning start with Sporting.

Manchester United fans are embracing the positivity, with the new head coach looking to impart his wisdom on the under-performing team.

Ipswich Town vs Manchester United

Manchester United take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road, against a team with just one win all season, which did not come at home.

Ipswich won their first Premier League match of the season 2-1 away at Tottenham, a shock result, which shows what Kieran McKenna’s newly promoted side are capable of.

This will give Ipswich a lift – but Manchester United are still favourites to get a win, and start moving up the table.

Not according to Chris Sutton, who tells BBC Sport he is expecting Amorim to fail to win his first match as Manchester United head coach.

Sutton is predicting a 1-1 draw, commenting: “Ipswich just need to stop being so careless defensively. If they do that, they could get something from this game.

“Everyone else is probably going to put Amorim to start with a win, but I am going for a draw.”

Paul Merson predicts Manchester United win

Sutton was right that his prediction would be an unpopular take, with fellow pundit Paul Merson tipping a Manchester United victory.

Merson tells SportsKeeda that it would be ‘catastrophic’ if United lose – but is calling a 2-1 away victory for Ruben Amorim’s men.

He adds that it is a ‘good game’ for Amorim to test out his three at the back tactics.

United follow up with fixtures against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League, Everton, and then Arsenal.
