Ally McCoist says he’s noticed something about Bryan Mbeumo at Man Utd that’s so different to Jadon Sancho

Ally McCoist is convinced that Manchester United have secured upgrades in Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha after signing multiple attackers who failed to reach expectations in recent years.

The weight of the Manchester United jersey shouldn’t be underestimated.

Many players come to Old Trafford and struggle to succeed. In many cases, it doesn’t help when young players are heavily criticised because they haven’t hit the ground running.

That explains why Andy Cole has urged patience with Benjamin Sesko, who has scored two goals in his first 12 appearances for United since joining from RB Leipzig in the summer.

Ruben Amorim will be thankful for how Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have started life at United, but it should be noted that both players arrived having Premier League experience under their belt. That should help explain why other players need extra time to adjust.

Former Scotland international Ally McCoist has been impressed by some of United’s new signings, so much so that he thinks they’ve made a major upgrade on other players that were brought to the club under previous managers.

It always bodes well when a new signing hits the ground running.

That has also been the case for Senne Lammens between the sticks.

United are unbeaten in five matches since Lammens was given his debut in a 2-0 victory over Sunderland. That was also a first clean sheet of the season for Amorim’s side, and the 23-year-old has since made progress in making the role his own.

Would Karim Adeyemi be a good signing for Manchester United?

However, Mbeumo and Cunha have been taking the headlines with their goal contributions and performances.

“I look at United and I look at the signings particularly Cunha and Mbeumo and I just think they’re comfortable,” McCoist told TNT Sports.

“I think they can handle it. I think they you know there’s been that many players with United recently haven’t been able to handle it whether it’s Antony, Hojlund and boys like that, Sancho, they can’t handle it.

“I’m sure they can’t handle it. I think I look at those two they can handle it.”

It’s a damning verdict for players like Antony, Rasmus Hojlund and Jadon Sancho – who all had chances to perform at United but, for different reasons, couldn’t prove themselves at the highest level.

How is Rasmus Hojlund doing at Napoli?

After a bright start at Napoli, Hojlund is already facing a period of struggle.

Hojlund suffered an injury before last international break, but they’ve failed to score in their previous three Serie A games.

This has led to questions surrounding Hojlund’s form, with Napoli missing Romelu Lukaku due to injury.

Despite being the reigning champions of Italy, Napoli are fourth in the Serie A right now.
