Manchester United are gradually welcoming new players back to the squad as the team prepare to fly on tour to the USA.
Manchester United’s pre-season schedule consisted of five matches, two in Europe, and three to be played in the USA.
With games against Rosenborg and Rangers now complete, United are now preparing to fly across the Atlantic, to face Arsenal, Real Betis, and Liverpool.
The tour squad for the USA is expected to be announced on Wednesday 24 July.

Three players return to Carrington
Manchester United took a 26 man squad to play Rangers at the weekend. This was largely comprised of academy players, many of who will not be going on tour.
United have lined up a slate of under-21 and under-18 friendly matches to ensure these players’ pre-seasons are not cut short.
Three more players returned to Carrington on Monday, following their involvement at Euro 2024, according to United media.
- Rasmus Hojlund
- Christian Eriksen
- Tom Heaton
Heaton was with the England squad at the Euros but did not play. He travelled as a non-playing member of the squad, to work with the goalkeepers.
Manchester United players due to return
The following Manchester United players are still on their holidays and have not yet returned to Carrington.
They are expected to fly out with the tour squad, or possibly, join up after the first match if United deem that to be best.
- Altay Bayindir
- Diogo Dalot
- Bruno Fernandes
- Joshua Zirkzee
- Luke Shaw
- Kobbie Mainoo
- Facundo Pellistri
- Alejandro Garnacho
- Lisandro Martinez
Bruno Fernandes is still on holiday, sharing a picture with Raphael Varane, who was released by United and has just clinched a move to Italian side Como.
Fernandes’ potential link-up with new United signing Joshua Zirkzee is particularly highly anticipated.
Four players who have not yet appeared in pre-season
The following four players have been at Carrington, but have not yet been a part of either pre-season squad.
- Harry Maguire
- Antony
- Victor Lindelof
- Scott McTominay
- Tyrell Malacia
The expectation is at least the first four of these players will travel on tour. Tyrell Malacia may stay to train individually if he is not ready.
Marcus Rashford also missed the Rangers fixture due to injury, but did start the first pre-season game against Rosenborg.
