Manchester United are en route to the USA for this summer’s pre-season tour, which begins on Saturday in New Jersey.

Preparations are underway for Ruben Amorim’s first full season in charge of Manchester United, and next up is the trip to the United States.

Pre-season kicked off with United drawing 0-0 with Leeds in Stockholm last weekend. It was a far from exciting fixture, with both sides focusing on fitness with little good football being played.

Following this game, all attention turned toward the US tour.

United named a 32-man squad for the US tour, which included new summer signing Bryan Mbeumo, along with almost a full-strength first team group, excluding Harry Maguire, who is expected at a later date.

There were also a handful of first-team players included.

Will Murdock – Goalkeeper

In goal, Amorim has included five names, and among them is 18-year-old Northern Irish youngster Will Murdock.

The teenager is fresh off an excellent season for the U18s, with Murdock being praised by Adam Lawrence, with the former academy coach stating that he has ‘potential’.

Reece Munro – Centre-back

While Godwill Kukonki gets all the press hype, Reece Munro has silently slipped into Amorim’s plans and is heading on the US tour.

Munro signed a new contract in June and has quite clearly established himself as one of the biggest talents available to Amorim.

Diego Leon – Wing-back

Despite arriving for £3.2m this summer, Diego Leon is very much still a wonderkid and has earned his place on the plane to the US.

Leon impressed on his debut for United against Leeds, where he looked confident and showed signs that he deserved further opportunities in the USA over the next few weeks.

Sekou Kone – Central midfielder

Despite not featuring against Leeds, Sekou Kone is firmly in the plans of Amorim this summer, after the decision was taken that he will not be sent on loan.

Kone could be the midfielder Amorim has been asking for as he brings speed and intensity to a slow midfield department currently at the club.

Jack Fletcher – Attacking midfielder

Jack Fletcher’s inclusion should be no shock. Fletcher is one of the best talents in the ranks at Carrington right now, so seeing him finally set for a huge opportunity is excellent to see.

Fletcher is ready to play a role in Amorim’s squad, and he can prove this over the next two weeks.

Ethan Williams – Attacker

Initially, Ethan Williams was expected to go on loan and therefore was tipped to be left out of the squad.

However, this has changed, likely due to Shea Lacey suffering an injury setback, which sees the Liverpudlian miss the tour. Big chance for Williams.

Bendito Mantato – Attacker

Bendito Mantato featured against Leeds, failing to really make his mark, yet showed a couple of nice touches and passes which should have caught the eye.

Now, the 17-year-old will want to showcase his ultimate ability while on tour to earn himself a spot in the first team as Mbeumo’s back-up next season.

Chido Obi – Striker

Finally, still fitting the wonderkid billing despite being almost a fully fledged first team player, Chido Obi is obviously on the plane to the US this month.

Obi scored twice during postseason and also could have had a goal or two against Leeds. Hopefully, he is given the chance to play with Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha this summer as he still looks like the club’s best number nine.
