The brother of Alejandro Garnacho has revealed that the Manchester United star had missed training due to injury after the player’s impressive performance against Liverpool.
Alejandro Garnacho started for Manchester United in the crucial FA Cup quarter-final tie at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils winger playing the whole 120 minutes.
The 19-year-old Argentina international was widely praised for his display after Garnacho put in a workhorse shift for United from start to finish.
Garnacho also played a key part in securing the winner for United against Liverpool, having set up Amad Diallo on the Red Devils’ counterattack in extra time.
Amad Diallo, who had come off the bench in regular playing time, was instrumental in the build-up for United’s winner against Premier League rivals Liverpool.
The 21-year-old Ivory Coast international dispossessed Harvey Elliott in the aftermath of a Liverpool corner before Diallo released Garnacho on the counter.
Garnacho sprinted down the middle before he returned the ball to Diallo, who passed Conor Bradley before slamming the ball past Caoimhin Kelleher.
Liverpool crashed out of the FA Cup quarter-finals against 10-man United, with Diallo being sent off after his winner due to a second bookable offence.

Garnacho’s brother on injury
Manchester United punched their ticket to Wembley after their win over Liverpool and the Red Devils will now face Coventry City next month in the semi-finals.
Alejandro Garnacho has had an impressive season under United boss Erik ten Hag, with the Spain-born winger firmly establishing himself as a starter in the first team.
Following Alejandro’s impressive performance against Liverpool, Roberto Garnacho opened up on social media about his brother’s elite mentality.
Roberto Garnacho took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and claimed that Alejandro had trained only twice last week due to an injury.
Alejandro’s brother added that he was “proud” of the United star’s performance and his commitment to his team, despite the recent injury he had to overcome.
“Garnacho has trained [two] days this week due to a hamstring injury, still, he is there running 120 minutes and giving the winning assist, [I’m] proud of you, [big bro],” Roberto tweeted.
Ian Wright on Garnacho’s position
Garnacho has proved his versatility for Ten Hag this season, with the Argentina international capable of playing on either the left wing or the right wing.
The United star has preferred to play out on the left, but Garnacho has proved equally devastating from the right, including in his performance against Aston Villa last December.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright admitted Garnacho can be “very dangerous” in attack and the Argentina winger is tremendously effective from the right wing.
“Him being on the right now helps him even more,” he said on ITV ahead of kick-off, as per The Daily Mirror.
“I don’t think he’s involved in the game as much on the right, but once he gets it, he can go outside, come inside, he’s very, very dangerous.”
