The brother of Alejandro Garnacho has pulled no punches towards one fan after they aimed a swipe at the Manchester United and Argentina star.

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has been away from Old Trafford with Argentina for the September international break.

Garnacho came off the bench for a brief cameo appearance against Chile and the Spain-born attacker picked up an assist in the 3-0 win at the River Plate Stadium.

Despite his impact at the River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires last Friday, Garnacho had to settle for a place on the bench again for the match against Colombia.

The 20-year-old United star was an unused substitute in the 2-1 World Cup qualifier defeat to Colombia on Tuesday at the Estadio Metropolitano in Barranquilla.

Garnacho, who made his Argentina debut under manager Lionel Scaloni, has only been capped seven times for the 2022 World Cup champions.

The United player only made one appearance for La Albiceleste during Argentina’s successful Copa America title defence in the United States in the summer.

Garnacho’s brother hits back

Alejandro Garnacho has become a fan favourite with Manchester United fans and a key first-team player for Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag.

The Argentina international impressed in the 2023-24 campaign with United, with Garnacho netting 10 times and picking up five assists in 50 appearances.

Garnacho came off the bench for United last month and scored in the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City at Wembley.

The United winger has only managed one start in his first three Premier League matches this season, with Garnacho facing fierce competition from Amad Diallo.

Garnacho’s brother wasted no time on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, by hitting back at one fan calling the United player “s***e.”

Responding to the tweet, Roberto Garnacho wrote: “Gotta hurt you he is s**t and still the winger with most goals at United at the moment.”

Ten Hag on Garnacho’s potential

Garnacho has not found the back of the net in the league this season, but he did come off the bench and set up the winner in the 1-0 victory over Fulham.

Erik ten Hag is a big admirer of the Argentina star and spoke openly about Garnacho’s “high potential” and his ability to become a “world-class player.”

Speaking ahead of United’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton in August, he said: “You have gone very quickly. World-class is something where he has to go a long way.

“He has a high potential, 100 per cent. But last season he contributed and he can be a starting XI player.”

Ten Hag continued: “To make that jump to being a world-class player, he has a long way to go. It starts with hard work.

“That has brought him to where he is now and that will bring him to being a world-class player because I agree he has the potential.”
