Alejandro Garnacho on verge of doing what no Man Utd star has managed since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009

Alejandro Garnacho needs Manchester United fans help to seal one of the football world’s most prestigious awards.

Just over a year ago, Alejandro Garnacho scored the best goal of his professional career, a spectacular bicycle kick against Everton.

It was a stunning goal, a picture perfect illustration of a bicycle kick, one that instantly sparked a debate whether it was better than Wayne Rooney’s famous strike against City.

Teammate Diogo Dalot later pleaded with Garnacho to take him with him to receive the Puskas Award. The time is near.

Puskas Award winner to be revealed

The Puskas Award winner was not unveiled at the recent Ballon d’Or ceremony. Instead the winner will be announced at the upcoming FIFA The Best Awards in January.

Alejandro Garnacho is confirmed as one of the 11 nominees. West Ham’s Mohamed Kudus is also the mix for a goal scored in last season’s Europa League.

Garnacho needs a little help too. The winner is voted for by fans worldwide, and potentially the Manchester United fanbase could have a big sway.

How to vote for Alejandro Garnacho

The voting is open via FIFA’s official website. Anybody wishing to vote must register an account with FIFA and then select their choice of winner.

While the awards take place in January – voting is only open until December 10. So there is one week to vote for Alejandro Garnacho.

The prestigious award would be another major achievement for the 20-year-old, who has already won the FA Cup after scoring in the final.

Cristiano Ronaldo won the Puskas Award

Alejandro Garnacho would follow in the footsteps of his idol Cristiano Ronaldo by winning the award.

Ronaldo is the only Manchester United player to ever win the Puskas Award, doing so while representing the club back in 2009, the first time the award was presented.

The strike was Ronaldo’s rocket against Porto from 40+ yards out in the Champions League, a truly unstoppable effort.

Ronaldo is Garnacho’s idol and former teammate, and very few things would please him more than to follow in his footsteps if he can win this award.
