Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is the club’s third signing of the summer and there are high hopes for the young Dane.

Rasmus Hojlund expects to make his Manchester United debut early next month once he recovers from a minor back problem.

Hojlund is United’s sixth most expensive signing of all time and the club hope that if he fulfils his incredible potential, the £64 million fee will end up looking cheap.

The young striker is a hot topic among fans and pundits alike, keen to see what he is capable of, for a striker-needy team.

Rasmus Hojlund potential

Rasmus Hojlund’s ability and potential was subject of discussion on MUTV’s The Debate.

Former Manchester United youngster Danny Simpson, a title winner with Leicester City in 2015/16, said that Hojlund’s style will make for a fearsome front three with Marcus Rashford and Antony.

He said: “When you’ve got them three running in behind, there’s nothing worse. You just don’t like it.”

Simpson went onto explain that he had spoken to his old teammate and Hojlund’s current Denmark international colleague, Kasper Schmeichel, about the new signing.

He said: “I spoke to to Kasper Schmeichel, his Danish teammate, and he said the mentality for his age is absolutely unbelievable.

“It’s a lot for people to wear the Manchester United shirt, I think he’s going own it and go straight in like he’s been here before.

“He’s [Schmeichel] not someone who will say that lightly, he doesn’t give many compliments.”

Hojlund has had taste of Old Trafford

It was important for Manchester United to give Rasmus Hojlund the taste of a matchday at Old Trafford, last weekend against Lens.

He was introduced to a packed crowd, and while it was just pre-season, the Dane will have an inkling of what to expect when he eventually makes his home debut.
