Cristiano Ronaldo could he handed a very unlikely exit route from Manchester United.
The CEO of the A-League has confirmed he wants to bring Ronaldo to Australia.
A-League chief Danny Townsend has already made an approach to Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes, reports The Mail.
He quite rightly believes that Ronaldo joining an Australian side would put the league on the world football map.

Townsend is quoted by The Mail: “Ronaldo said he wasn’t getting any love and respect at Manchester United but we’ll certainly give him plenty of love and respect in Australia.
“We might not be able to compete financially with other offers but we can compete in other ways.”
Ronaldo would of course have to take a pay cut to move Down Under, but he could be facing this scenario wherever he signs.
A move to Australia would be a life changing one for Ronaldo, and it would provide a scenario where he could score a hatful of goals.
From a competitive standpoint it would be a backwards step, but it doesn’t have to be a permanent one. Zlatan Ibrahimovic went to play MLS before returning to Europe to win the title with AC Milan.
One factor which may help is Ronaldo’s former Manchester United and Portugal teammate Nani signing for Melbourne Victory.
Ronaldo missed out on a trip to Australia this past summer when he pulled out of going on United’s pre-season tour.
