Manchester United have secured the club’s first major summer signing with a deal for Matheus Cunha.
With a move seemingly likely for most of the month of May, Manchester United have acted swiftly to strike a deal for Matheus Cunha.
Cunha joins for £62.5 million, making him one of the top 10 most expensive signings of all time.
The Brazilian will make United a more dangerous team in the final third, addressing a key weakness that has held the team back over the past two seasons.
While he can’t fix the attack single-handedly, Cunha could have a significant impact in making United a more dangerous team, scoring 17 goals for Wolves last season.

Matheus Cunha primed for Ruben Amorim’s system
Ruben Amorim has been resolute this past season about sticking to his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, deciding to live or die by it.
This has enabled the Manchester United head coach to closely assess who can play within his preferred style, and more importantly, who cannot.
The clear brief this summer is to sign players who fit into Ruben Amorim’s system, and Cunha is a ready-made fit.
Cunha comes from a Wolves team used to playing in the same formation under manager Vitor Pereira.
Pereira’s Wolves set up with three centre-backs, deploying a similar 3-4-2-1 formation, with Cunha playing as one of the number 10s.
This should mean there is no adjustment required, with Cunha used to playing the same style of football in the Premier League.
He knows exactly what to expect and how to succeed, and this gives him a head start to life at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim.

Ruben Amorim’s methods have shown Manchester United’s players are not suited to his system. That has been agonisingly clear for months.
This summer is critical for United’s recruitment, to give Amorim the players he needs, and clear out those who cannot deliver.
Cunha’s arrival is a great start, on top of signing a promising left wing-back in the January window, Patrick Dorgu.
The early deal for Cunha shows Ineos have prepared for the window, making an early statement. Now they have to follow up with a few more…
