Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood admitted that he saw an “interesting” detail from Manchester United’s approach with Benjamin Sesko in the Sunderland match.
Benjamin Sesko has now found the back of the net in back-to-back Premier League matches for Manchester United since his big-money summer move from RB Leipzig.
The 22-year-old Slovenia international netted in United’s 3-1 Premier League defeat to Brentford last weekend before making an impact again against Sunderland.
Mason Mount opened the scoring at Old Trafford last weekend before Sesko made his presence felt and doubled United’s lead over Sunderland in the first half.
Diogo Dalot’s long throw-in was flicked on by Sunderland’s Nordi Mukiele and Sesko effortlessly buried the ball into the back of the net on Saturday afternoon.

What Tim Sherwood spotted from Man Utd striker Benjamin Sesko during the Sunderland match at Old Trafford
Benjamin Sesko impressed with his overall performance over the course of the 90 minutes, with Manchester United sealing a 2-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford.
The former RB Leipzig striker was a lively threat in the final third against the Black Cats and Sesko linked up superbly well with Mason Mount and Bryan Mbeumo.
Speaking on Sky Sports during Saturday’s 2-0 result, Tim Sherwood said that it was “pleasing” to see United involve Sesko more directly in their attacking threat.
“It’s interesting how Man Utd are going about this,” he said.
“They’re playing direct[ly] into Sesko. I’ve never seen him have so many touches so early in a game. It’s pleasing to see.
“They’re not asking Lammens to play out in silly areas, and it’s paying off.”
Tim Sherwood’s feelings on Man Utd’s performance vs Sunderland and the impact that Benjamin Sesko had at Old Trafford
United went into the break with their 2-0 lead after the impact of Mount and Sesko, with the Red Devils maintaining their advantage in the second half over Sunderland.
Ruben Amorim watched on from the Old Trafford dugout as United kept a clean sheet and walked away with all three Premier League points in Saturday’s tie.
Sherwood was deeply impressed with Sesko’s showing against the Black Cats and how many touches the former RB Leipzig ace had in the first half alone.
“It’s a wonderfully timed run from Sesko. Well done, son,” he said.
“He’s had more touches in the first half here than in all the other games.
“They’re making him feel like he’s part of it.”
United have climbed to ninth place in the Premier League table and will now travel away to Anfield for their next league clash against Liverpool on 19th October.
