Predicted Manchester United line-up v Arsenal

Manchester United take on Arsenal on Saturday looking to secure a major result in the chase for a Champions League place.

Defeat to the Gunners would effectively kill off United’s hopes of the top four, which are clinging by a thread as it is. A victory would put United right back into the mix.

Arsenal’s form is as unpredictable as United’s. They lost three games in a row before beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in midweek.

United have only one won game out of the last four Premier League matches, a 3-2 home victory over bottom of the table Norwich.

How United could line up against Arsenal

There was a double injury boost this week when Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo were both pictured back in training.

Paul Pogba was not, and he is expected to miss the fixture through injury, along with Luke Shaw, Fred, and Edinson Cavani.

David de Gea will start the game in goal as usual, and Varane will partner captain Harry Maguire in central defence, with Victor Lindelof dropping out.

Unfortunately for Eric Bailly, he probably will be back on the bench despite his pleas on social media for game-time.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be preferred to Diogo Dalot for this game, with Alex Telles returning at left-back after missing out at Anfield.

Scott McTominay was also back in training and he will likely start this fixture, alongside veteran Nemanja Matic.

Bruno Fernandes will retain his starting spot in attack, even though Jesse Lingard has a strong record at The Emirates.

Jadon Sancho is expected to return to the starting line-up, with Anthony Elanga on the other wing, with Marcus Rashford dropping to the bench.

Hannibal starts for United’s under-23 side tonight at Old Trafford and so will not be involved against the Gunners, likewise Shola Shoretire and Alvaro Fernandez.

Alejandro Garnacho is not part of the u23 squad and will likely travel with the first team and be on the bench against Arsenal.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be back to lead the line and hopefully add to the 21 goals he has scored this season. He struck two against Arsenal at Old Trafford and United need a similar performance from him this weekend.
